Boy did it rain – but that put nobody off!
To celebrate the seventh annual Warrington Viking Medieval Market 2017, plenty of Warrington folk joined us with fairies, three different dragons of various sizes, mythical creatures, knights, Vikings and, as always, a huge range of traders! Of special note were three mead sellers, a huge wooden dragon which could actually be ridden, glitter beards, a strong show of arms in the knights headquarters tent, those chocolate dragon eggs again and an array of smiles all round.
Live music was provided by Mythco with the Whipperginnies singers, Kevin the Hurdy-Gurdy plaer, Vales Elia, Leafblade, Livia and the Elementals and Serpentyne. We also had dancing with the Ya Raqs crusader period dancers and Freyer ‘Fire Sprite’ with her fire dancing.
Once again, the magnificent Viking ship appeared on street and shared space with two mythical creatures Sally and Forth, two mobile and life sized dragons, street tafl, Wall of Asgard Jenga and, as always, the Knights of Failsworth fighting in the small arena.
Yet again, some traders had the best takings ever and everyone went home satisfied – and we went home to a well deserved take away and to thaw out on the couch! Until next year when we return in September.
